Learn how to climb big dunes
Evening Rookie+ Drive Report: by Nag & Naju Date: 11 June 2021, Meeting time: 16:30, Drive ended: 19:15 hrs Location: https://goo.gl/maps/vNszmD5iiXdK3VuR9 Convoy position (6 cars): Naju (Lead), Umar Waqas (2nd Lead), Hashir, Edison, Fazal, Nag (Sweep) Impressively some cars reached to meeting point well in advance, Drive started at 16:50. As per registration 8 cars supposed to attend the drive. Sameer was replaced by Naju, Umar Waqas not registered, Salim Hadri, Prakash and Rithin were not able to attend the drive. If system permits better to correct these changes from Admin side. Initially we crossed big dunes for some time. Edison struggled a bit to catch the track. With in 10 min of drive, he trapped in a small bowl where recovery became a challenging task. Finally front pull with two recovery ropes helped to bring him out. Shortly we moved to technical dues, Edison had few 2nd attempts and couple of self-recoveries. Umar Waqas was forced to exit after one hour of the drive as passengers are not feeling well. Hashir took the 2nd lead position for the rest of the drive. Umar, Hashir and Fazal were performed well throughout the drive. Today’s track is mostly technical, challenging and completely new track for me since I start recording in GAIA Maps. Thanks to Naju for safe and challenging tracks today. Overall it’s a pleasant drive. Today's drive was very wonderful and I appreciate the support of Nag who done a great job as sweep. Drive ended near Shabiyat Al Refadeh Mosque -Al Madam (E44) area. Notes: Radio communication can be improved while 2nd attempt, slowdown, any deviations. suggested -English as official language. Suggestions - Radio communication is compulsory and I suggest all to keep the radio within quickly reachable area, preferably hanging with a Lanyard. While driving through the technical dunes, I would suggest, 2nd lead to be frequently communicating with others and update the status of the track as he has the better view on the lead and the followers. Also those who drive in the middle of the convoy should notify immediately if they are not able see the vehicles in the front or behind. Try to keep safe distance of minimum 3 cars at the technical dunes for a safe drive. During the current weather conditions please keep enough drinking water or fluids in the car. Also try to keep additional radiator coolant (2-3 ltrs) as well.
